Inter-session contact

Inter-session contact refers to therapist/client contact between sessions. This is individualized 24-hour a day access to coaching with the therapist or another team member via telephone, text, or email during crisis situations. The therapist must manage and set limits regarding the client's use of this coaching and if mismanaged by the client or continuous attempts to push the boundaries of these limits would be considered therapy-interfering behavior, and would subsequently need to be addressed in session (Linehan, 2015; Swenson & Nelson).
